Explore....

 Hello friends

Wow another week has flown by...
Cannot believe its nearly July!!

Its been a funny old week here in the UK
Ive been doing my best to avoid all the news/social media feeds, as its been full on reporting about Britain leaving the EU.
(Its been really hard to know who or what to believe anymore)
but the decision has finally been made,
so I guess we just have to Keep calm and drink GIN!

So while Ive been sipping on my extra Large gin,
I got to work on creating a layered piece using lots of original letters and envelopes
I started with a first an old air mail letter. I added a photo from the Tim Holtz Photo Booth collection, then set about adding lots of stitches.
I added another layer of Kraft card cut from the  Sizzix Mixed Media thinlits and added some splatters of distress paints.
I just love the Correspondence stamp set (CMS225) its full of great images....I stamped a few of them using Archival ink.
Plus I always love to add some Idea-ology, along with my own vintage finds....
( the brass token and ruler)
I added the union jack, I guess as my own way of marking this weeks topical events....
(It does not however represent any of my own political views, parties or sides, like I say just my own personal way to mark the event)

The vintage file box was a great find in a junk shop.....just wish there had been a couple more!

Right I think my glass needs topping up!!More gin please!!

As always feel free to leave a comment,
I appreciate each and every one!

Have yourselves  a really lovely weekend

bye for now

Memories...

 Hello friends,,,

I hope you are all well,
Sorry I've not been around much for a few weeks.....
I was hoping to spend  half term week with the family but all I managed to do was to catch a really horrible viral infection which put me out of action for a while,  :0(   ( it always happens at half term!) it really knocked me about......but glad to say Im feeling so much better!

Anyway, this evening Ive managed to get some much needed creative time...
Heres what I made....

Those that follow my blog regularly will know that I love to use original vintage photos in my work,
I found this one along with the photo I used in my last post here, in an old album that i bought from a local junk shop, I really like how happy the couple look on their holiday....
I started by creating a background using gesso on an old note pad page that I had torn from a photo album, I then added black tim holtz distress paint through Tim's herringbone stencil using some cut and dry foam
I then stamped using distress archival in ground expresso using the mixed media stamps.
This was followed by using the distress splatter brush and peacock feathers distress paints flicked randomly onto the background.

I always add stitching to my work so I got to work with my sewing machine!
Ive added lots of Idea-ology along with some of my own vintage finds (ruler, curtain ring and ephemera)
As I was a lucky winner in last months 12 tags so I spent my voucher from simonsaysstamp.com (thank you!!) on the Correspondence stamp set from Tim Holtz, its such a great set as it has so many smaller stamps that are really useful, Ive used some on the tags and the photo!

(If your interested in any of the Tim Holtz goodies Ive used they are available from Art from the Heart here in the UK)

Right, my desk is looking in a very bad way!! I best have a clear up....
As always feel free to leave a comment, great to know you popped by!

have a lovely weekend
Bye for now

Vintage panel

 Hello friends

Hope you are all good!
Ive had a really busy half term week, spending some quality time with my friends and family.....
(I can't believe how quick the week has passed!)

So a very quick post to share my latest make with you....
Ive used lots of Tim Holtz  Idea-ology, distress and Archival ink, oh and some of my own vintage finds....

I used parcel paper to create layers.....
I mounted it all onto a Tim Holtz cabinet card....
The ruler is vintage, I had to bring myself to cut it into pieces.....
The photograph is an original
I used one of theTim Holtz Sizzix thinlits dies (660220) cut it out then added more layers with vintage papers and farmed it with an Idea-ology frame

As always feel free to leave a comment, I really do appreciate each one xx

Ooo Before I go don't forget to check out the new  Tim Holtz Creative chemistry online classes here
Its a great way to learn new techniques, share ideas/connect with fellow students and be taught by the professor of distress himself...Tim Holtz!

Have yourselves a fabulous weekend
bye
